When we moved into our current home I loved so many things about it; the layout, the garden, the space in the lounge. There was just one problem, the decor! Luckily we have been able to change the decor to suit our own tastes which we have been doing, slowly but surely, since we moved in. The worst room by far was definitely our bedroom. Orange carpet, orange curtains, badly fitted wardrobes, do I really need to say more? The wardrobes were the first to go, which then revealed a ceiling that needed to be plastered and a carpet that definitely needed changing.
One fresh new ceiling, one lovely grey carpet, three glorious white walls and one simple grey wall later and it was finally starting to feel more like our bedroom and less like something the eighties had left behind. Continue reading “Finishing Touches With Desenio”

Ever since Darcie was first born, she has been a total water baby. I don’t know if it’s because she was born in the birth pool or if it’s simply because most babies just do love water. But either way, it has always been a great way of calming her down if she is upset or unwell and these days it fills that awkward gap between dinner and bedtime. Bath time usually lasts a good half an hour at least in our house; she plays with her toys, splashes water everywhere, drinks the bath water (gross, I know), plays with the bubbles and always says ‘teeth’ at the end to remind me that we need to brush her teeth. With Christmas looming I’ve put together this gift guide for toddlers to hopefully give some inspiration to any parents out there who are struggling for ideas. Let’s be honest you can go into any Early Learning Centre, Toys ‘r’ Us or Argos and be bombarded with choices and ideas of all the latest toys to buy your toddler, so I’ve focused on some more alternative ideas that you might not otherwise have thought of and to support some smaller or lesser known brands in the process.

I don’t know if I’ve ever met a single woman who doesn’t struggle to buy for the men in her life. For some reason men can be absolutely impossible to buy for and the ones in my life are no exception. I’ve put together this gift guide that contains some items that you might not have thought of before and also some trusty old faithfuls. I hope it helps anyone who might have just realised that it is only three weeks until the big day and that they still have no presents bought for the men in the family. I know that feeling oh so well, so here are a few ideas for you: Continue reading “Christmas Gift Guide for Dads”
The launch of my new business: Little Dreamers Nursery Decor. Well technically it launched a couple of months ago but now I’ve got the ball rolling I’m ready to share it fully with my blog. I am selling beautiful, handmade pieces for nurseries and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’ve started out with dream catchers but I have plans for bunting, garlands and all sorts of other wonderful things to add as time goes by. We’ve always been a strictly water in the sippy cup kind of family. When Darcie was first weaning and started to have water throughout the day along with her milk, I couldn’t understand why anyone would introduce juice to their baby. Surely if they’ve never had anything other than water, they won’t want anything different? This theory worked for me up until Darcie was just over a year old. Within reason I will always share what I have with Darcie if she expresses an interest in wanting to try whatever it is I’ve got. Unless it is something really outrageously unhealthy, or alcohol, I will let her have a little taste. And so, she has slowly been introduced to some of the
more unhealthy finer things in life. She loves cake and juice and can now say both of those words which mean it is frankly downright rude for me to pretend I don’t know what she wants. So, I spend around half the time feeling like a mean mummy and explaining to her that she can’t have cake at 7am, and the other half of the time giving in and letting her have exaclty what she wants. I know that some people will groan when they see me use the Christmas word on my blog when we’re not even quite in December. However, once you’re a parent I really don’t think there’s such a thing as being too organised for Christmas and what I’ve got to share with you today is definitely going to help you out with getting everything ready for the big day. Anyone who knows my daughter in real life or who has read my blog for a long time will know that she is animal mad. There are times when I genuinely feel she prefers animals to humans and will happily spend her time watching cats from the window, chasing them when we go for walks and ‘woofing’ at every dog that we see. I would love more than anything to get her her very own pet but the timing doesn’t quite feel right at the moment. So I was very happy when we received a Little Tikes Swim to Me Puppy to review. I immediately knew that she would absolutely love the toy and we couldn’t wait to try him out. Continue reading “Little Tikes Swim to Me Puppy Review”
A few weeks ago I was contacted by Flip Out to see if I would like to try out their trampoline park with Darcie and to write a review for them. Not being someone to turn down an opportunity to do something different, I of course said yes and so along we went on Friday 10th of November. We took two of our friends along with us because everything is better with friends, and we all had a really good time. When you first arrive at Flip Out you have to sign a waiver basically saying that you will take responsibility for yourself and your children and then there is a short health and safety video to watch. It really is very short so you don’t need to worry about keeping the kids still for very long at all. I think it’s good that they do all of this as it shows that they really care about your safety and enjoyment while using the equipment. We were a bit disappointed though as they don’t allow triple flips which was obviously the main reason we wanted to go (kidding!). You have to purchase non slip socks for jumping which are then yours to keep for any future times that you go, and there are lockers to leave any possessions that you don’t want to take onto the trampolines with you.
