Let Them Be Wild

One of my favourite quotes that is quite often written in beautiful calligraphy and hung up on nursery walls is ‘Let them be little, let them be wild’. I don’t want this to be something that I just frame for Darcie and put on the wall, I really want to make this a motto for how we raise our own little wild child. I want to raise Darcie to be free, to run wild, to finish the day with knots in her hair, dirt on her feet and a crazy sparkle in her eyes. I want to encourage her curiosity and I want every day to be an adventure. When I look back at my childhood I think of spending time outdoors, of exploring and of being creative. This is what I want for Darcie, I don’t want her to be glued to the television, finding all of her joy in CBeebies, I want her to be outside whatever the weather. I want us to go strawberry picking in the Summer and splashing in the puddles in the Winter. I want us to go on treasure hunts through the forest and shell collecting on the beach. I want her to feel free, to not be afraid of the world around her but to feel a part of it. Continue reading “Let Them Be Wild”

What Do I Do All Day?

img_8948If there is one thing that all Mums (and some Dads of course!) can unite on, it is the frustration at being asked ‘what do you do all day?’.

Whether you are a stay at home mum, on maternity leave or even a working mum at the weekends I’m sure you have been asked this. Even being asked what you did that day or last week can lead to this conversation. Sometimes when people ask me what I did last week I have no idea but I know it was non stop, I know I barely sat down and forgot to eat lunch at least twice. And I don’t mind that at all, I love ‘the mum life’ but I don’t love being made to feel like I am lazy or like I don’t do enough interesting things. I am raising a child, isn’t that enough for you?! Ways to Save Money as a New Mum

I have not always been good with money, in fact I used to be borderline terrible. When I was at university I would usually spend my entire loan in the first two weeks of term and then live on plain spaghetti and bites of my friends food for the rest of the month. I still don’t know if I would necessarily describe myself as ‘good’ with money but I have come a long way from where I used to be. Continue reading “Ways to Save Money as a New Mum”

Doing Something for Myself

I’m very much an ‘all or nothing’ type of girl. If I’m doing something I like to throw myself into in completely until something better comes along and then I have a tendency to lose interest. So I have very much committed to being a Mum and of course nothing better could ever come along so this is it now, I am committed to being the best Mum possible for the rest of my life. And I absolutely love that, it’s the best job I have ever had, the most rewarding, and I really feel like this is what I am meant to be doing. I feel like it suits me which I love.
