Valentines Gift Guide For Mums & Mums To Be

Valentines Day is basically the Marmite of celebrations. Personally I’m in the ‘love it’ camp mainly for the reason that I love having any excuse to celebrate. Pre kids, Valentines used to mean a weekend away, a romantic meal out or some other indulgent surprise. But when you add children into the mix, there’s no denying that things do change. The little thoughts and gifts mean a lot more when you spend all your time looking after little people and putting yourself last. I’ve put together a list of a few things that I think any mum or mum to be would love. And you can trust me on this as I currently have an insiders opinion on both!

Jewellery from Jewellery Box

There are lots of beautiful pieces on Jewellery Box‘s website and some in particular that would make lovely presents for mums and mums to be. The first idea is to get a little letter pendant engraved with her child’s initials on a dainty chain. I love this more subtle way of having jewellery dedicated to your children without it needing to be a huge gold chain that spells out ‘MUM’ in bling.

The second idea that would be particularly lovely for a pregnant mama is to get her a Harmony Bola necklace. The Harmony Bola necklace is traditionally worn on a long chain when pregnant and it makes a jingly noise when you move around. The idea is that the baby becomes familiar with the sound while in the womb. When the baby is born, mum can then wear it on a shorter chain so it will be a comforting sound to the baby when being cuddled or fed. I love this idea and have been wearing my Harmony Bola necklace non stop.

Luxurious Creams from Unity Beauty  Essentials

All pregnant women are told ‘you must moisturise your bump’ repeatedly for nine months. And I think most of us do at least try to maintain a moisturising routine for the bump. For me that has always meant slathering on some moisturiser twice a day and saying a quick prayer to the stretch mark gods. But how about treating the pregnant lady in your life to something a bit more luxurious than her usual supermarket moisturiser? Unity Beauty Essentials have a Pregnancy range which is honestly divine and will make her feel like the absolute Queen for having used the products. Three of my favourites are: the Daily Body Hydrator £25, the Stretch Mark Cream + Oil £35 and the Intensive Body Nourisher £25. The formula on all of them is so luxurious and none of them leave you feeling sticky or greasy throughout the day. I’d highly recommend these as a pamper treat for any pregnant woman.

Gift Set from Seventh Heaven

Still on the subject of Pampering, Seventh Heaven do a gorgeous range of Goody Bags and Gift Sets of their products. You can get the usual face masks that we all know and love but they also do hair masks, feet masks and bath bombs that I had no idea about until recently! All their products are so lovely to use and make a great pick me up on those difficult parenting or pregnancy days. They have a range of different priced gift sets too, so there will be something for every budget.

I don’t know many people that would turn a Spa Day down but when you’re pregnant or dealing with a cheeky toddler from dusk till dawn, you need it more than ever. Getting your wife or girlfriend a  voucher for a Spa Day or even whisking her away for a surprise weekend is guaranteed to get you in her good books! If you are looking to get a good deal on something like a Spa Day for your other half you should always try looking on websites such as Gratisfaction. Not only do they have free samples on their website but they also often have voucher codes for days out and gift ideas.

I regret not getting maternity photos done during my first pregnancy and so I am very excited to have a shoot booked in with Rebecca Frost Photography in a couple of months time. It’s so lovely to have photos of your bump to look back on and getting them done professionally means you are much more likely to end up happy with the finished result. A professional will know all the best flattering angles to shoot from if you’re feeling conscious of your changing body. It’s something that a lot of women wouldn’t think to book for themselves so it would make the perfect surprise for Valentines Day.

Temporary Bump Tattoos from Precious Little Feet

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen these feature a lot recently. I was sent these temporary bump tattoos from Precious Little Feet  and I have been loving using them to record my pregnancy. They keep me motivated to take a bump photo each week and I will love looking back on them all. I had never heard of this idea before so chances are your pregnant wife or girlfriend will be pleasantly surprised to receive this unique gift idea on Valentines Day.

I love all of these ideas for presents for those special ladies in your life but if you aren’t a gifting type of couple then I’m sure she would appreciate a card with a nice message written in it. It’s so easy to forget to tell our loved ones how important they are to us and how much of a great job they are doing. That is why I love Valentines Day as it encourages us all to show our appreciation to those we love.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? What was the best Valentines Present you ever received?
