Last Sunday I was lucky enough to be invited to try out the new Breakfast menu at Lakaz Maman in Southampton. Myself and a few other local bloggers all piled into this beautiful ‘home from home’ style restaurant and had a lovely morning tasting the new menu and enjoying the atmosphere. Lakaz Maman is a restaurant opened by Master Chef winner Shelina Permalloo who wanted to create a relaxed restaurant focusing on delicious Mauritian food and a homely atmosphere. I can definitively say she has achieved both of these things and I look forward to returning to Lakaz Maman soon.
As we countdown the months and weeks to baby number two, it’s dawning on me more and more that Darcie will soon be ‘the big girl’ of the family. I want to do lots of things for her around the time of Ernie Bump’s arrival that will make her feel special and hopefully ease the transition from only child to older sibling. One of the things I was keen to do was to update her bedroom so it’s less of a nursery and more of a toddler room. She has clear interests, likes and dislikes now and so I love the thought of her having a bedroom that is ‘her’s’ and full of things that she likes. The transformation is nowhere near complete but these are just some of the things we have added or changed so far.
The week before last was Dan’s Birthday. I just love birthdays, they are an opportunity to spoil a loved one and to go all out with the little things we just don’t bother with on a daily basis. One of Darcie’s favourite things to do at the moment is to bake cakes and so Dan’s birthday was a perfect opportunity for us to put on our aprons and get baking! I always wear my trusty Cath Kidston apron whenever we bake and Darcie always gets excited when she sees me get it out of the drawer and put it on. That means it’s baking time! So you can only imagine how happy it made her when she was sent her very own personalised apron from Gift Pup. It has a picture of a pig on it (one of her favourite animals and quite appropriate given how she behaves around cake mix!) and also says DARCIE in big letters. She just looks so cute wearing it and it also seriously makes me wonder where my little newborn has disappeared to!
Pregnancy is hard and being a new Mum is even harder. When Kate, founder of the Pickle & Squidge Mummy To Be Boxes, realised this she decided to create a product to make that transition into Motherhood that little bit smoother. The Mummy To Be Boxes were inspired by Kate’s own transition to Motherhood back in 2013. All those sleepless nights left her with time to think and be inspired to create the Pickle & Squidge brand. The Mummy To Be Boxes contain everything that Kate herself found essential during those first few months of Motherhood (and beyond!), for both mum and baby. The week before last was a tough one for many reasons. Most of those reasons involved expensive things breaking and needing to be replaced. It was also cold and I was stuck inside for most of the week. This week has been the opposite, it’s been a week of new, unbroken things, getting out the house and the weather finally realising that it might in fact be Spring. So here are ten things that made me happy this week: Continue reading “10 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week 23.03.18”
Although Father’s Day is a while away yet, gifts for men have been in my thoughts lately as we celebrated Dan’s Birthday last week. I’ve only recently become self employed and so having my ‘own’ money is very much a novelty to me at the moment. I was excited to finally treat Dan to a good present after a good couple of years of not really being able to do so. But the hard question was, as always, what to get? I’m sure men are just so much harder to buy for than women, that’s a huge generalisation I know, but I stand by it. I narrowed my options down to five items which I will list below for anybody else out there struggling to buy for the man in their life.
I’ve always intended to do frequent updates on Darcie as she grows and develops into a little person. But time goes so fast that I never seem to actually get around to just sitting down and writing them. I thought a nice way to do a little update on her at 22 months old would be to write down a few of the things that make her so amazing at this particular point in time. She changes so rapidly that it’s hard to keep up but I hope I’ll stick to writing these lists from time to time.
I think it’s a common trait of our generation that we just LOVE setting goals. Whether that be small daily goals or big, ambitious life goals, it is a word that features frequently in our conversations. I try to set myself little daily or weekly goals which give me a good sense of accomplishment when I can tick them off my to do list and I also have a list of bigger goals that are always in the back of my mind. Things that I would really like to look back and think ‘Yes, I’m glad I did that!’ I’ve never actually made a physical list of these bigger goals and so I want to write them down now. This list has grown and changed throughout my life so far and I’m sure that it will continue to do so. But for now, in no particular order, these are my life goals.
I’m sure all of us parents are only too well aware of how much clutter our children accumulate. And I’m sure that we’re equally as well aware of how damn expensive all of this clutter can be! You know the scenario; you buy your child a toy that you think they will love and cherish for weeks (being optimistic!) but within half an hour it’s been discarded to the plastic graveyard and you’re left wondering why you even bothered. I recently discovered Pound Toy which, as the name suggests, sells toys at some real bargain prices. I actually found items on the website for less than a pound! That definitely makes it sting less when they get discarded after half an hour. Continue reading “Pound Toy Review & Giveaway”
If you pay attention to my blog posts you may have noticed a theme emerging recently; maternity clothes! I’ve been a woman on a mission to find the best maternity clothes to make me feel good and look good too. Having trawled the high street and been frankly unimpressed with most maternity ranges, I was pleased when I discovered Pink Blush. Pink Blush is an online boutique that sell the most gorgeous maternity clothes, from lounge wear to dresses, there really is something for everyone! I was offered to pick two items of clothing to feature on my blog and I honestly struggled so much to choose from the stunning selection that they sell. Continue reading “Pink Blush Maternity Wear”
