Miele Blizzard CX1 Parquet Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner Review

At nearly 36 weeks pregnant, my nesting urges have totally taken over. All I want to do is clean, tidy and generally just make sure that my house is ready for a brand new baby boy to arrive in around a month’s time. Call me middle aged but I’m a sucker for new cleaning products and gadgets to make household chores easier. So you can only imagine my excitement when I received the Miele Blizzard CX1 Parquet Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner to review. I’d been struggling with our ancient vacuum cleaner for so long and I hadn’t realised quite how badly I needed an upgrade until I tried the Miele Blizzard CX1 out. I suddenly realised how heavy our old one vacuum was and quite how basic the settings were compared to this new machine. As a mum of a toddler I spend a lot of time dragging the vacuum around and so I’m not exaggerating when I say that the Miele Blizzard CX1 has totally changed my everyday life for the better.

Assembly

The Miele Blizzard CX1 is extremely easy to assemble. I haven’t assembled many vacuum cleaners in my time but even a novice like me managed to work it out pretty quickly. The instructions are really clear and after a quick read I understood how to assemble the machine and how to use it to it’s maximum potential.

Performance

I have to start this by pointing out just how powerful this machine is! Not only is it significantly more powerful than my previous vacuum cleaner but you also have the option to adjust that power by choosing one of the four main cleaning settings. There are settings for curtains and fabric, cut pile carpets and rugs, loop pile carpet and hard flooring or heavily soiled carpets and rugs. I’ve found the different settings really handy especially the rug setting. The most powerful setting is the one specific for wood and hard floors which leaves our floors cleaner than I even knew they could get. I’ve used the lowest setting for cleaning our sofas too which was really useful, and then the crevice nozzle for really getting rid of all those crumbs.

The main floor head is really flexible and makes getting around corners really easy. The suction tube is telescopic so you can find the perfect height for you, to avoid giving yourself a bad back by hunching over. This is especially handy when you are as pregnant as I am! One of my favourite features of the Miele Blizzard CX1 has to be the ease of popping off the suction tube and floor head which leaves you with the nozzle, you can then easily slide the dusting brush down which is perfect for getting those pesky skirting boards clean too.

Another handy feature of the vacuum cleaner is the Park System which is ideal if you have to briefly pause cleaning to pick something up (or stop your toddler from breaking something!). You can simply clip the suction tube onto the main body of the vacuum which saves having to bend down to pick it back up again.

Maintenance

I like that it is a bagless cleaner so I don’t have to worry about buying bags for it which can be both expensive and not environmentally friendly. The Miele Blizzard CX1 has a 2 Litre dust capacity and as such I haven’t needed to empty the vacuum out yet. The instructions are very clear on how to go about this when the time comes and I’m sure it will be just as easy to do as everything else has been about this machine. It also has a self clean feature – could it really get any better than that?!

Overall Thoughts

Well, as you can tell, I really don’t have a bad word to say about the Miele Blizzard CX1. I always like to keep my reviews totally honest even if the item has been sent to me and as such I like to try and include the good and the bad. But I can’t with this one, there isn’t a single element of the machine that I would change and it really has made domestic life a lot easier. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Miele Blizzard CX1 to anyone!
