This year was the first year that we decided to take Darcie to a grotto to see Santa Claus. She’s seen him in passing before and once at a Christmas party when she was 6 months old, but we’ve never done the whole ‘grotto thing’ before. At two and a half years old and with a perfect understanding of Christmas and Santa, we decided it was time. I say ‘we’, but Dan is basically Scrooge so really it was just me that made that decision. And I have to say, I was excited! Probably more excited than some of the children going to see him themselves. Because I actually can’t remember ever going to a grotto when I was younger. Santa wasn’t a big part of my childhood, and while I definitely don’t begrudge my parents for that, it does make me even more excited to experience it all with my own children. (more…)

Some of you may remember this post I did in collaboration with Desenio back in January. We chose some gorgeous prints and frames for our bedroom and they really were the perfect finishing touch for our redecoration project in that room. So when we recently decided to redecorate our dining room, they were the first brand that I thought of to add that touch of something special to the project. (more…)

So here we are, the grand finale of Little Snippets’ Gift Guide Week and I’ve saved the best till last. One for us girls! These are always my favourite gift guides to read as the person I struggle for idea with the most is myself. You know when someone asks you what you want for Christmas and you haven’t got the foggiest because you can’t remember the last time you were encouraged to think about yourself for a change? Yeah, that. I know I’m not the only one to have that problem, so here are some things that I think would be lovely to find underneath the Christmas tree this year. So here we are, post number three in Little Snippets Gift Guide Week. It’s the tricky one – it’s the men! If gift giving was split into categories X Factor Style, ‘The Men’ would be the category no one wants. That being said, I think I’ve done pretty well with ideas this year so hopefully I can help you by sharing them with you all. Christmas Gift Guide | Toddlers

At two and a half years old, this is the first Christmas that Darcie really understands what is going on. Last year she was excited by presents and seeing all the lights and glitter but this year she is seeing it all in a new light and magic for the first time. And she thinks that it is wonderful! In some ways the pressure is on to make sure that she loves her Christmas presents, but at the same time I’m not allowing that to become stressful. She is still young enough that she is quite easy to buy for and not old enough to have a Christmas list as long as her lean toddler legs! I’m sure next year will be a different story. In case anyone is struggling for ideas, I’ve put together this list of some things that I know Darcie will love and hopefully you can get some inspiration too! (more…)

November is upon us, and we all know what that means – Christmas is coming! I’m someone who gets a bit too excited about Christmas a bit too early so I try to contain myself as much as I can.
