How To Work Around Your Kids

Some say you can’t have it all, but why not? There are plenty of jobs you can do, make a good living, raise your kids, and spend time with them all at the same time. Some such as childminding or mobile hairdressing are popular choices, but there could be a few more that you haven’t thought of that might be worth looking into. You really can do anything you want to from tongue piercings to piano teaching; you might just need a little training.

Self Employed Trade

Taking a course in something like plumbing could be the key to getting the career you want while being able to look after your children too. Get the skills, and then you can set yourself up at a low cost and get out there and earn some decent cash. Not only will you have a new skill, you’ll be your own boss and manage your own time, but with a lack of people opting for this kind of work then you’ll also find very little competition.

Direct Sales

Companies are always looking for people to get selling for them, and if you have the skills, the gift of the gab, the confidence, like a challenge, and are motivated by targets and money, then this could be perfect for you. Companies such as Digital Attitude, Tecacademic, or Forever Living, will give you the platform to build a good customer base.

Photography

While you’ll need to put in some time, effort, and have some talent, if you can get together your determination, a portfolio, and a bunch of friends who will recommend you to people, then there’s no reason why you can’t make it. Start off with a few free (or discount) sessions for friends, family, and neighbors to build up a good portfolio to gain a good reputation. You could go for family photography, baby photography or even wedding photography and you’ll be able to work as much or as little as you want and set your own hours.

Teaching

Teaching at a school is a great idea if you have kids, purely for the school holidays, which you will be able to spend with your kids. Alternatively, tutoring privately could also earn you a lot of money or getting if teaching’s not for you, then how about working in the school office or kitchen?

Blogging

There is money to be made in the blogging world, from writing your own or writing for other people. Breaking into the world of freelance writing is easier if you can show that you have previous experience, but a few decent writing samples may be all you need to get your foot in the door.

Rent

While this isn’t exactly a job, but if you have a spare room, you could advertise it on Airbnb, or contact your local university and find out what you could earn for hosting exchange students. If you can provide a room, Internet access, and a caring environment where they can practice English, it also gives you an extra pair of hands with the kids. This also requires no training, which is a bonus.
