My Autumn Style Favourites

I have mixed emotions about Autumn, I love the cosy evenings at home and the beginning of the build up to Christmas, but I also suffer mildly with SAD and find the shorter days and darker mornings can really lower my mood. One thing I do really love about Autumn is fashion. I love layering cosy outfits up for this time of year, before it gets too cold so you can still brave the bare legs some days, whilst also embracing a cosy knit.

I have recently picked up some pieces from Femme Luxe which have been staples in my Autumn wardrobe this year. I thought I would share them in this post, including how I’ve been styling them. You may notice there is a slight monochrome theme…

Aside from the black and white theme, the other thing all these outfits have in common is that they are school run approved. Now that Darcie is in reception, my life does basically revolve around doing the school run. The kids love to walk across the muddy field too, so my outfits have to go with either trainers, that I can chuck in the washing machine, or my black lace up boots which can survive anything.

Outfit No. 1

The ultimate basic, autumn outfit. Ripped black skinny jeans, a white long sleeve bodysuit and my current favourite accessory- my white and black Primark scarf. This outfit is the perfect base and I can wear it with various different coats and shoes. My go to combination is always my faux leather jacket and white trainers. Practical and comfortable but still stylish, the best combination for mum life! On a rainy day, a raincoat goes perfectly with this outfit too (and if that doesn’t say mum life I don’t know what would…)

Outfit No. 2

Outfit no. 2 is for the days when I’m feeling slightly more extra and when life is on the lower end of the muddy scale. I will always be a sucker for a white outfit, no matter how impractical they may be! I love the the white shirt trend at the moment and layering them with jumpers/sweater vests for a cosy autumn outfit. With some of the oversized shirts I have, I find the outfit can look bulky but I love this one from Femme Luxe which is a really fitted shirt dress, so there is much less excess fabric going on underneath the jumper.

Outfit No. 3

The black cardigan of dreams! This picture doesn’t do it justice but it goes all the way down to my ankles and it honestly feels like I’m wearing my dressing gown out of the house, but that it’s acceptable! That’s the level of comfort that we all need, especially in 2020. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this could be paired with anything in my wardrobe. It’s the perfect cosy knit to throw on and can be dressed up or down.

Those are just a few of my autumn staples this year. I try to keep my wardrobe quite minimal (we have limited storage) so I go for items that can be worn together in different combinations. Choosing a monochrome colour pallet helps with this, and then I’llĀ  buy the occasional piece which has a pop of colour or a more interesting print. At the moment I love sticking to quite neutral colours but mixing it up when it comes to textures.

What are your favourite trends at the moment?
