Gender Disappointment

This is almost certainly the most controversial post I have ever written and for that reason it has been tough to write. It’s been in my drafts for nearly a year now. I know exactly what I want to say but I worry about not articulating it properly, people reading it the wrong way and not doing to subject the justice that it deserves. I want to start by saying that I am writing this from a positive place, and the feelings that I will talk about in this post have now passed and I couldn’t be any more in love with my beautiful boy. He is everything I ever hoped for, and gender doesn’t come into that. (more…)

Ernie’s Labour & Delivery Story

Please excuse the quality of some of the photos in this post, we filmed bits of my labour and so some pictures are screenshots of that footage. The lighting was kept dim too which reduced the quality some more.

Let me set the scene.

It’s the third of July 2018, we’re in the middle of one of the most severe heatwaves the UK has seen in years and I am nine days overdue. I’m hot, swollen and becoming increasingly annoyed by the poor time keeping skills of my second child. It had never occurred to me that Ernie would be later than Darcie was, if anything I was expecting him early and had therefore been on the edge of my seat since about 37 weeks pregnant. Five weeks later and I was beginning to lose my cool, literally. (more…)

Preparing for Postpartum & Breastfeeding | The Products

Following the success of my post on Preparing for a Newborn I thought I would put together a similar list of some of the products that I have for myself once Ernie is born. A lot of these will be breastfeeding related and also there are just some general postpartum items on here that will hopefully be useful to someone reading this. It’s so important to remember to look after yourself when you’ve just had a baby. Yes, your priority will be on the baby, but be kind to yourself too. Your body has just undergone one of the most traumatic experiences and it’s important to take care of yourself as a priority too. So these are some of the things that I am hoping will ease me into postpartum life:

Second Pregnancy, Third Trimester

Seeing as I’m still waiting around for little Ernie bear to make an appearance, I thought I might as well write my third trimester update. I know that once he is born, I’m unlilely to get around to it any time soon and I wanted to write it while it is all still fresh in my mind. I remember that as soon as Darcie was born, all my memory of pregnancy was wiped, which is probably why I was so happy to do it again! I’m currently three days overdue and so now is as good a time as ever to tell you all how the third trimester has been.

In Anticipation Of It All | Labour, Delivery & Life With Two

It’s been a while since I’ve just sat down and wrote about how I feel so prepare yourself for a word splurge.

I’ve got to that point in pregnancy where it’s all becoming very real. The chances are that within the next week or so I’ll give birth to my baby boy and begin my new life as a mum of two. And I’d be lying if I said that I’m not currently finding that quite a daunting thought. So, as ever, I’m turning to my blog for a therapy session just to get my thoughts out of my head and onto the screen (I know, paper would sound a lot better!).

Using Spatone During Pregnancy | A Review

~ sponsored content ~

It’s certainly no secret that being pregnant whilst also looking after a toddler, is hard work. Having good energy levels is pretty much essential when it comes to being a toddler mum, so when pregnancy fatigue hits – life can become quite difficult quite quickly. I generally am somebody that has pretty good energy levels, we’re always on the go and I love being able to take Darcie out for adventures every day. However in this later stage of pregnancy, I won’t pretend that I haven’t begun to struggle. I’ll often find myself feeling dizzy and exhausted after doing even the simplest of everyday tasks. It was really starting to get me down as it became more and more difficult to keep up with Darcie throughout the day. (more…)
