Cooking Up An Autumnal Storm With VonShef & Giveaway

~ sponsored content ~

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the weather turns cooler and the evenings get darker, I start pining for hearty stews, casseroles and soups. There’s just something so comforting about cosying up in the warmth at home and enjoying a proper home cooked meal. I absolutely love cooking but having a toddler means I often find myself in an endless routine of nuggets, fish fingers and sausages. When I actually cook a hearty and healthy meal that the whole family enjoy it is such a wonderful feeling! I’m on a bit of a mission to try to get Darcie to eat a wider variety of foods and this time of year just feels like the perfect time to do that.

My Breastfeeding Essentials

Now don’t get me wrong, I am very much a ‘all you really need to breastfeed is a boob’ kinda gal. However, I do often get asked about my tips for breastfeeding so I thought this post would be a good place to start. I was also inspired after reading this list of breastfeeding essentials from Smart Cells, to share my own. Expectant mums just love a list of things to buy, it helps us to feel prepared for the new baby. Breastfeeding is often a big scary unknown for a first time mum and so feeling prepared for it can really help you to feel less daunted by it all. I also want to say at this point, please don’t feel daunted or scared at the thought of breastfeeding! Yes, it can be a minefield but there is a lot of good support and advice out there so don’t be afraid to hunt it down. I’m currently three months into breastfeeding my second baby and I breastfed my first for sixteen months, so it ‘s fair to say I’ve been around the breastfeeding block. I’ve tried a lot of products throughout that time and these are my one hundred percent honest and unbiased recommendations for you.

Smyths Big Steps Play City Deli Review

Like most toddlers, Darcie’s attention span can be very short. It takes a lot for a toy to captivate her for more than about half an hour before it is discarded to the plastic graveyard. But the City Deli has come in and done just that. It’s been her favourite toy for almost a week now, and I can’t see that changing anytime soon! At nearly two and a half Darcie’s speech is very good but she also likes to march to the beat of her own drum a little, and so despite being able to say ‘Deli’ and ‘Burger Van’ – she has lovingly nicknamed her new favourite toy her ‘camper van’, and likes to demand that it go everywhere with us. How many times can you explain to a toddler that they don’t need to bring their toy Deli to the shops? It’s like she’s scared to let it out of her sight in case it disappears! So yes, I think I’ve made my point – she loves the toy! Continue reading “Smyths Big Steps Play City Deli Review”

MyHummy Snoozy Review & Giveaway

‘How does he sleep?’ For some reason, once a baby is born this becomes the most important question on everyone’s mind. Quite possibly because newborns only really sleep and poo and no one wants to ask about the latter. It was a question I used to dread when Darcie was a newborn, I hated having to painfully admit that my baby would only ever settle on my chest and screamed to the high heavens if I so much as thought about putting her in her Moses Basket. But we’re not here to reminisce over those difficult times, we’re here to talk about Ernie’s sleep and most importantly, the wonderful invention that is the myHummy. Thinking Ahead | How To Cope With Chickenpox

~ sponsored content ~

Chickenpox is generally something you only face once as a parent and so I definitely think it’s good to be prepared for when your house is struck with the dreaded virus. When ViraSoothe offered to send me a chickenpox survival kit, I knew it would be a handy thing to have ready for when the inevitable happens. It’s also a great opportunity for me to share ideas with you all of how to cope when the time comes and what you could put in your own chickenpox survival kit. A Date At Turtle Bay

I’ve always been a big fan of Turtle Bay. As soon as one opened close to us, it became a favourite go-to place for cocktails with the girls. The decor and ambience are always spot on and the cocktails are always delicious. One thing I’d not ever really tried at Turtle Bay was the food, so I was delighted when we were invited to try out their new menu at the Winchester branch. I knew that if it lived up to the standard of everything else that I know and love about Turtle Bay then I wouldn’t be disappointed. It was also the perfect excuse for Dan and I to have some toddler free time together, to enjoy some adult conversation and hot food while Ernie napped in his pram and Darcie went to the aquarium with her Granny. Carriwell Seamless GelWire Nursing Bra Review

Boobs. Some people’s favourite subject but even though I own a perfectly good pair, it’s really not one of mine. I’ve always been quite ‘anti-boob’ (is that a thing?) and generally found them to be pretty annoying; they get in the way, don’t look how I want them to in certain outfits and worst of all is bra shopping! Trying to find the perfect bra that fits well, is comfortable and looks good has always been mission impossible to me. And pregnancy and breastfeeding has only made things worse! When Carriwell offered to send me the Seamless GelWire Nursing Bra to try out, a mixture of thoughts ran through my mind. The first was ‘thank god! I don’t have to physically go out and hunt for this bra!’ and the second was ‘but how on earth am I supposed to know which size I am?!’ After some careful consideration I chose my size and it turns out I needn’t have worried! It fits like an absolute dream and is honestly the most comfortable and supportive bra I’ve probably ever worn. I mentioned this bra in my post on Preparing for Postpartum & Breastfeeding | The Products but now that I have tested it out I thought it was time for a full review.

Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym Review

Despite Darcie only being two years old, I have to admit that the world of newborn still seems a little alien to me. Her newborn days feel like a distant memory and as much as some elements have come flooding back, I’m also having to relearn some things. One of the things I’d forgotten was just how hard it can be to entertain a new baby. When they start to be more awake in the daytime, you have to find ways to keep them stimulated and entertained without also accidentally overstimulating them in the process. As Ernie is more awake now, we’ve been trying out the Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym and it’s been a hit so far.

The Watercress Line | Day Out With Thomas

You may have read about the fantastic day out we had at The Watercress Line at The War on The Line Event back in June. It was such a fun day and so I was thrilled when we were invited back to review a Day Out With Thomas. The Watercress Line is one of the few places in the country where you can still ride on Steam Trains all year round. Once a year they hold a very popular event called a Day Out With Thomas which is totally centred around the ever popular Thomas The Tank Engine. We went along on Thursday and we weren’t disappointed! Darcie didn’t really know about Thomas the Tank Engine prior to the event but by the end of the day she was excitedly yelling for Thomas every time he came into the station. If you have a little Thomas fan at home, this isn’t an event to miss! Continue reading “The Watercress Line | Day Out With Thomas”

Sleeping Like A Baby With Leesa & Get £100 Off Your Own New Mattress

I think we can all agree that getting a good night’s sleep becomes even more important when you are a parent. Gone are the days of lying in bed until noon on a Saturday or treating yourself to an early evening watching Netflix from the comfort of your blankets and pillows. These days sleep is scarce so I want to make sure that the hours we do get are quality even if they’re not a great quantity! Up until recently, we had been sleeping on the same mattress for around five years, it had suffered four house moves, two pregnancies and one toddler – let’s just say it had seen better days. It wasn’t a great quality mattress to begin with and time had not been kind to it. This is where Leesa came in!
