Taking Time Out at Carey’s Manor SenSpa

If you surveyed a bunch of mums and asked them what they would like most in the world right now, I can guarantee you that the majority of them would wistfully say a Spa Day and then laugh to themselves because, you know, how often do us mums actually get to treat ourselves to that extent? I’ve been longing for a Spa Day since before my daughter was born, nearly two whole years ago, but I’ve never actually managed to find the time to give myself that break and take a day to relax. When Carey’s Manor offered myself and a friend the chance to review the facilities and have a ‘Mums Day Off’, we of course jumped at the chance! After a lot of back and forth we eventually managed to find a day we could both do, when the children would be looked after and we could head off to the Spa and give ourselves the relaxing day that we both needed!

My Maternity Photo Shoot with Rebecca Frost Photography & An Exclusive Discount

Little Snippets-120.jpg

One of my biggest regrets about my first pregnancy is not having any maternity photos taken. I seriously have hardly any photos of me when I was pregnant with Darcie, and the ones that do exist – I really don’t like. I have a few quick snaps from my baby shower or family gatherings, where the angle is all wrong and I just don’t like the way I look in them. I struggle a lot with body image during pregnancy and so I knew that having some nice photos taken during this pregnancy would really help me to feel good about my changing body. I am actually planning a whole post on the subject of body positivity during pregnancy so I’ll save that ramble for another day and for now just tell you all about the lovely experience I had on my maternity photo shoot with the lovely Becky of Rebecca Frost Photography.

Easter at the Farm

I’m sure Easter is becoming a bigger celebration nationwide each year. This year I’ve seen people going all out with Easter Baskets, extravagant egg hunts and even Easter Trees. Easter traditions are becoming as popular as Christmas ones and while I’m definitely not an Easter Scrooge, I also certainly couldn’t be bothered to go all out in the same way that some people have. (That’s no shade on those that do, I just don’t have the energy this year!). We kept Easter quite low key, of course we got Darcie (and ourselves) a few Easter treats and I cooked us a roast dinner for lunch. But the highlight of the day for me was taking Darcie to a little Easter Egg Hunt at our local farm.

Brunch at Lakaz Maman

Last Sunday I was lucky enough to be invited to try out the new Breakfast menu at Lakaz Maman in Southampton. Myself and a few other local bloggers all piled into this beautiful ‘home from home’ style restaurant and had a lovely morning tasting the new menu and enjoying the atmosphere. Lakaz Maman is a restaurant opened by Master Chef winner Shelina Permalloo who wanted to create a relaxed restaurant focusing on delicious Mauritian food and a homely atmosphere. I can definitively say she has achieved both of these things and I look forward to returning to Lakaz Maman soon.

Please DO Touch Trail at Southampton City Art Gallery

As a stay at home mum I often find myself slipping into the same routines with Darcie. We have park days and soft play days, play dates and family time. We also have our Longdown and Paulton’s Park annual passes which get a hell of a lot of use and always make for really good days out. As much as I know that I do a lot with Darcie (we hardly ever actually spend time at home!), sometimes it can all begin to feel a bit samey and I’m constantly thinking of different things we can do that will help her grow into a well rounded little person. So for this reason, I was really pleased when I heard about the Please DO Touch Trail that is currently running at Southampton City Art Gallery. (more…)

Family Time

Most of you will have picked up by now that I am a BIG advocate for family time. Nothing makes me happier than spending quality time with my little family unit, doing something we all enjoy and just making the most of each other’s company. We all work so hard to earn money, keep the house presentable, raise the children, that I think it’s so important that we take the time to enjoy ourselves amongst the chaos too. It’s good to remember what we are all working so hard for and why it is all worth it. (more…)
