What To Do In & Around Hampshire In Autumn & Winter 2019

Ahh Autumn! Some love it, some hate it, some love to hate it, but I think that we can all agree that autumn definitely brings lots of lovely things with it. Knitwear, pumpkin spice lattes, pretty coloured leaves and also a whole new season-load of fun things to do. As much as I love a summer’s day out to the beach, there’s always something really special about an autumn festival, bonfire night and the arrival of the Christmas Markets. I know some of you will be cringing at the mention of Christmas, however every year I wish I had been more organised with planning days out  so that’s why I wanted to put this list together now! So that we can all be super organised autumn/winter queens and sail through these next few months gracefully. Who am I kidding? Graceful and organised are really not words I would use to describe myself – but like every year – I shall try my best! (more…)

Prams & The Underground | What You Need To Know

I’ve always loved a trip to London. For as long as I can remember day trips to London have been a big part of my life and when I went to university (for a year, but we don’t need to talk about that) I seized the chance to go and live in my favourite city. So as you can imagine, the underground really is second nature to me. For someone who has a terrible sense of direction I find it an easy system to navigate – it really is as simple as just following the signs. However when we started our own family, something was holding me back from visiting my favourite place. As much as London will always feel like a second home to me, I didn’t know how to navigate the city with a baby in tow. I’d never paid any attention to lifts or accessible routes, so the thought of a day out with the pram was more than a little daunting. As I have grown this blog, invites to London have become increasingly frequent and one day I decided I was done with turning down these invitations out of fear. The fear was really just of the unknown and now that it is has become a regular part of out lives I have become confident on the underground with the pram and two little people in tow. (more…)

A Day In Bournemouth

A Day In Bournemouth

We are lucky enough to live within easy driving distance of some truly lovely parts of the country. Not only do we have the New Forest right on our doorstep but we are also close to some gorgeous seaside towns such as Bournemouth. The beaches around the Bournemouth area are so gorgeous that it’s easy to spend a whole day just soaking up the soft warm sand and beautiful views. However if you venture out of this sandy little comfort zone, Bournemouth actually has so many other things on offer too. Seafront cafes, bars, restaurants and lots of green spaces and beautiful gardens. It’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway and there are also some fabulous hotels in the area! (more…)

Our Family Holiday To Jersey

Every couple has their thing, that one thing that really defines them as a couple. For some it could be eating food together, for others it could be going to the cinema, but for Dan and I, it was always travel and a love of exploring the world. Our best times together were when we had our backpacks on, our passports in our pockets and an adventure before us. When the kids came along that took a major backseat. I wanted so badly to be like the mums you read about who use their maternity leave to travel the world but it just wasn’t our reality. When we would think about family holidays it became a flurry of questions and uncertainty. The types of trips we loved were the ones where we could just pack a bag, jump on a train or plane and go. But the holidays that were being advertised to us as ‘family friendly’ were all about the resorts and kids clubs and we just couldn’t get excited about it. That’s not to say we wouldn’t enjoy that type of holiday, but it was so far from what we knew that it was hard to know where to begin. (more…)

Autumn & Winter Bucket List

~ sponsored content ~

Apologies to anyone who is still mourning the end of summer, but I for one am very happy that Autumn has arrived. I actually always used to be such a summer lover, but since having children I much prefer the cooler months. There is no sun cream to reapply every half an hour, no worrying about dehydration and no hot sticky babies that just want to be cuddled. Well, of course the babies are still around but they are less hot and sticky which is a very good thing! I love the age that Darcie is at now as it means that this Christmas will really be the first one that she can properly understand and enjoy. So I really want to make the most of the build up and all the autumnal, festive activities and outings we can do in the mean time. (more…)

A Family Weekend | Fun Fair Rides & Strawberry Picking

As much as I am excited to meet our baby boy very soon, I am also really enjoying these last few weeks as a family of three. Although life will change for the better, there is no denying that it will change and that for a while Ernie’s needs will take priority over fun days out with Darcie. I’m making the most of this time and loving thinking of little things for us to do to spend quality time together before our newest member arrives. This weekend there was a fun fair set up locally to us which we went to on Saturday afternoon and then on Sunday we went strawberry picking at Pickwell Farm. These were both little outings that Darcie absolutely loved and made for a lovely family weekend together. (more…)
