Christmas Gift Guide 2019 | Men

Of all the people I have to buy for at Christmas time, it is always the men that I find the hardest. I’ve put together a list of a variety of things that I hope will inspire some of you if you are struggling to find a gift for the men in your life. (more…)

Jelly The Horse

One of Darcie’s favourite things to do is to create things. She always gravitates towards the art area at preschool and at home you can usually find her sitting up at the dining room table making some new, amazing creation. Drawing, painting, making junk models – she loves it all. I have a folder where I keep all (most)  of her creations safe. I love that we can flick back through it together and it always makes me laugh how amazed she is to see her previous masterpieces with fresh eyes, gasping and saying ‘wow’. As much as it’s lovely to be able to do this and to have it all stored safely away, I know that in the future and as she grows lots of it will get forgotten. Our Trip To The Lincolnshire Wolds

~ I’m delighted to work with East Lindsey District Council for this post, our stay was gifted but (as always) all opinions are my own ~

After much deliberation about holidays at the beginning of the year, this year has turned into the year of the mini break, the ‘staycation’ and the long weekends. Previously it’s all been about the big holidays and jetting off somewhere once a year, but I’ve found that since having children, these shorter breaks are a much less stressful way of having a break and enjoying some time away from home. This year has seen us visit Cornwall, London and Guernsey so far, and next to add to the list is the Lincolnshire Wolds. A little while ago I was contacted by East Lindsey District Council to see if we would like to spend some time exploring the hidden gem that is the Lincolnshire Wolds – of course I said yes so here we are! Myself, my mum and the kids had a fantastic stay in the Wolds at the end of August and I’m so excited to tell you all about it. (more…)

Dear Darcie, I’ll Always Be Your Safe Space

Dear Darcie,

Today you had your first full day at preschool; you’ve been doing half days for a few weeks now but you’re always so dissapointed to have to leave after lunch so we decided to try you out staying till the end of the day today. And you loved it, you had the best time all day playing with your friends and you even learnt how to make a spark to start a fire, which you haven’t stopped talking about (because it’s freaking amazing of course!). The thing that made me laugh was when I came to pick you up. Usually if I pick you up after a half day you are  brought out to the school gate to meet me, but because it was a full day today I had to come into the preschool to get you. And you were fuming! You were happy to see me (thankfully – otherwise I would have cried!) but you wouldn’t stop telling me off. Crossing your little arms and doing your best attempt at an angry face ‘Mummy you have to wait at the gate!’. I did my best to point out that all the other parents had come in too, and that all of your friends had to go home as well. But you weren’t having any of it ‘Mummy we were talking! You have to wait at the gate’. (more…)
