Welcome To Little Snippets, A Motherhood & Lifestyle Blog

Time

Time is always a funny of thing, we always seem to be running out of it, making the most of it, wasting it or wishing it away. Very rarely are we left with a sense of ‘perfect time’ or a perfect amount of it. Time has always been an enigma, but 2020 seems to have played havoc with it in a way that I’ve never experienced before. (more…)

How I Pick Myself Up When I’m Feeling Low

How I Pick Myself Up When I’m Feeling Low

Self confidence has been a battle for my whole life. I used to say that it’s only been since becoming a mother, but actually I’ve always struggled to feel confident in myself. When I was younger there was a big pressure to fit in with everyone else, to have the right clothes and go to the right places. I don’t think I ever quite grasped it, but I found a lot of confidence when I entered the working world. I liked earning my own money and providing for myself, I liked having the freedom to be who I wanted. I was finally away from the restrictions¬† and pressures of school, college or university. And then motherhood hit me like a ton of bricks. Suddenly the financial independence was gone, my clothes didn’t fit and I didn’t have the time or the energy to do any of the things that made me feel good in myself. (more…)

10 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week 22.03.20

Long time readers of this blog will remember the days when I used to manage to churn out one of these lists once a week. They’re some of my favourite posts to look back on but somehow I got out of the habit of writing them. In the light of everything that is going on right now, I have decided to bring them back. Because although these are very difficult times for all of us, there is still a lot to be happy about and thankful for. This week we’ve been in self isolation after returning from Spain and Ernie has got chicken pox, but there have still been countless things that have made me smile, and I want to record some of them here. So that I can look back at this bizarre period of time and remember the good bits, not just the news headlines. Here are ten things that have made me happy this week: (more…)

Why We Chose A Forest School & Our Experience So Far

Whenever I mention forest school, whether that be ‘in real life’ or online, I am always met with questions. ‘What do you mean they are outside all day?’ ‘What about when it rains?’ ‘Does she enjoy it?’ ‘Like seriously, outside all day?!‘ You can imagine! So I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while, in the hopes that it can be helpful to anyone considering a forest school setting for their child, or just to satisfy the curiosity of anyone else. Darcie has been going to forest school for four months now, and is a third of the way through her time there (sob!), so now seems like a good time to write this. We’re settled in, and we’ve basically got to grips with forest school life – by which I mean the mud – so here I am to spill the beans on what it’s really like to have a child at forest school. To My Post Partum Body

To my postpartum body,

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for a lot of things but let’s start with this. I’m sorry because this letter started out from a negative place. This letter originated from negative feelings of dissatisfaction and resentment. There’s a lot of body positivity in the media¬† right now, which is wonderful. Especially for mums! Women all around the world are celebrating their stretch marks, ‘mum tums’, excess skin. And as much as I see these posts and think ‘good on you!’, I’ve just never been able to relate. It’s never come naturally to me to accept you, let alone to think about loving you. (more…)

My Goals For 2019

If there’s one trait that I’ve developed over the past few years, it is my total love for setting goals. I’m a strong believer in the power of writing goals down and putting them out there for the universe. Last year I didn’t do this as a blog post, but I wrote down a few very specific goals in a notebook and kept referring back to them throughout the year to see how I was doing. And I’m happy to say that I achieved most of them! This year I am going to make myself even more accountable and share them with you all here. That way I’m even more likely to work towards them and hopefully in a years time I will be sitting here writing that I have checked them off. I recently got a phone case which has the phrase ‘Don’t Stop Until You Are Proud’ written on it, and that is basically what all of these goals amount to. I want 2019 to be the year that I can say that I am proud of all areas of my life.¬†However, I think it’s important to be specific with goals and resolutions so I have split them down into categories and smaller aspirations which I will share with you now. (more…)
