Why We Chose A Forest School & Our Experience So Far

Whenever I mention forest school, whether that be ‘in real life’ or online, I am always met with questions. ‘What do you mean they are outside all day?’ ‘What about when it rains?’ ‘Does she enjoy it?’ ‘Like seriously, outside all day?!‘ You can imagine! So I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while, in the hopes that it can be helpful to anyone considering a forest school setting for their child, or just to satisfy the curiosity of anyone else. Darcie has been going to forest school for four months now, and is a third of the way through her time there (sob!), so now seems like a good time to write this. We’re settled in, and we’ve basically got to grips with forest school life – by which I mean the mud – so here I am to spill the beans on what it’s really like to have a child at forest school. To My Post Partum Body

To my postpartum body,

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for a lot of things but let’s start with this. I’m sorry because this letter started out from a negative place. This letter originated from negative feelings of dissatisfaction and resentment. There’s a lot of body positivity in the media  right now, which is wonderful. Especially for mums! Women all around the world are celebrating their stretch marks, ‘mum tums’, excess skin. And as much as I see these posts and think ‘good on you!’, I’ve just never been able to relate. It’s never come naturally to me to accept you, let alone to think about loving you. (more…)

My Goals For 2019

If there’s one trait that I’ve developed over the past few years, it is my total love for setting goals. I’m a strong believer in the power of writing goals down and putting them out there for the universe. Last year I didn’t do this as a blog post, but I wrote down a few very specific goals in a notebook and kept referring back to them throughout the year to see how I was doing. And I’m happy to say that I achieved most of them! This year I am going to make myself even more accountable and share them with you all here. That way I’m even more likely to work towards them and hopefully in a years time I will be sitting here writing that I have checked them off. I recently got a phone case which has the phrase ‘Don’t Stop Until You Are Proud’ written on it, and that is basically what all of these goals amount to. I want 2019 to be the year that I can say that I am proud of all areas of my life. However, I think it’s important to be specific with goals and resolutions so I have split them down into categories and smaller aspirations which I will share with you now. The Best Of 2018

Wow! Where to begin with 2018? It has been quite the year and I feel like a lot has happened for me and my family, which I am going to attempt to summarise in this post. I’m almost daunted by writing this post, as I know I will miss bits and fail to do other bits justice. But I have to try, so here we are! My best bits from 2018.

Christmas Gift Guide | Women

So here we are, the grand finale of Little Snippets’ Gift Guide Week and I’ve saved the best till last. One for us girls! These are always my favourite gift guides to read as the person I struggle for idea with the most is myself. You know when someone asks you what you want for Christmas and you haven’t got the foggiest because you can’t remember the last time you were encouraged to think about yourself for a change? Yeah, that. I know I’m not the only one to have that problem, so here are some things that I think would be lovely to find underneath the Christmas tree this year. I hope you can find some inspiration here.

The Positive Power Of Social Media

I didn’t have any intention of writing this post when I woke up this morning. It hasn’t been on my to do list or sitting in my drafts for months just waiting to be written. And I’ll be honest, today I haven’t been feeling positive about social media, I’ve allowed myself to pay attention to people who aren’t using it to help others, but are instead just out for their own personal gain. People using dodgy tactics to gain followers and exploiting situations for likes. I’m so sick of seeing it, but more than that, I am sick of letting it be something that even takes up space in my brain. So, instead of deleting Instagram and sitting here moaning about those people (I’m done, I swear!) I decided to write a post about the other people. The good ones. The ones who inspire me daily and who I genuinely believe have good intentions to help others and to spread positivity. I can’t change what people are doing in the world of social media but I can choose who I pay attention to, so here are some total babes who make me happy. If you don’t know about any of them already, then you’re gonna need to get to know!  (more…)
