Recently something has been driving me crazy. At nearly 39 weeks pregnant, the nesting instinct has kicked in in a big way, it’s totally insatiable and persistent and to be honest it’s driving me mad. Since having Darcie and becoming the stay at home parent, I have naturally become quite house proud. If we have visitors and the house is untidy or unclean, we all know who is going to get the blame! To be honest, I also don’t think I’ve actually stopped nesting since Darcie was born. My house is in no way pristine but I do make an effort to keep it presentable as much as I can around the demands of a toddler.
During my first pregnancy when the nesting instinct kicked in I was able to make the house absolutely spotless and it stayed that way so I was able to bring my brand new baby home to a clean and tidy house. This time around it’s a little different. Now I have a tiny whirlwind that lives in my house and, as cute as she is, she does make it totally impossible to keep the house at the level of cleanliness and order that I would like. I spend my days going round in circles, cleaning one room and moving onto another only to come back and find that Hurricane Darcie has totally wrecked room number one. I don’t think there is really a way round this, it’s just how life is with a toddler, but I have been trying to find little ways to make my domestic chores a little bit easier.
One thing that has made a big difference recently has been my discovery of ACE cleaning products. I put a cap full in the machine and set it to pre-wash and it totally saves me having to leave the clothes to soak beforehand or to get scrubbing with the stain remover. The two sprays are my favourite products. They are completely multi purpose so I use them for everything from wiping down the kitchen sides, scrubbing stains off the sofa and cleaning the bathrooms.
