10 Things I Took For Granted Before Having A Baby

IMG_5343.JPG

I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about how amazing Motherhood is; the things I enjoy the most, the beautiful everyday moments and the tips and tricks that I am learning as I go. But today I thought it was time for a dose of a different take on reality. The other side of the coin. The brown grass on the other side. Here are my ten things that I really, really, took for granted before having a baby.

(Disclaimer: I obviously love Darcie to bits and wouldn’t change a thing...except these things. I’d like these back please) (more…)

Liebster Awards 2017

leibster_.png

I was kindly nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Emma at The Halcyon Years, if you haven’t ever read her blog before, go and have a nosy, I’m sure you’ll like what you find there! She actually nominated me a while a go but in true Hanna style I’m only now getting to it two months later. That’s the great thing I’ve found about Blogtober is that I am revisiting posts that have been sitting in my drafts for too long and finally getting around to hitting that little ‘Publish’ button.

For anyone who doesn’t know what the Liebster Award is (I didn’t either!), it is basically an award set up by The Global Aussie to give exposure to new(ish) bloggers. It’s a good way of sharing the love with other bloggers who you think deserve some credit for their slice of the internet. I was set eleven questions by Emma, which I have answered and then at the end of the post I will set new questions for my eleven nominees.  (more…)

My Labour and Delivery Story // A Positive Birthing Experience

Darcie will turn 17 months this week, so to say that this post has been a long time coming is an understatement! The details of my labour and her birth are becoming less and less clear in my memory all the time and so I want to write it all down before I forget any more. I saw a video on Facebook about a woman who had so much pain relief that she forgot giving birth to her baby and while the video was comical, I can’t help thinking that I would be sad to not have a memory of the birth of my child. Although there are parts you’d rather not dwell on too much it really is an amazing experience and not one I want to forget.

I have to warn you that this is a long one; I’ve written down as much as I can remember mainly for my own records, so feel free to skip ahead to the parts that interest you the most. When I read this to Dan for him to fact check the sections which are hazy to me, he said ‘Is anybody really going to read all of this?’ Quite possibly not, but it will be nice for me to look back on if nothing else. They take away your pregnancy and birth notes to keep on record where we live and I think it’s such a shame to not have them to look back on! (more…)

10 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week 07.10.17

22196376_10155523597471501_9072863140020989402_n.jpgI’ve woken up in such a good mood this morning that I thought a nice thing to do would be to list some of the things that have made me happy this week. It’s been a hectic week but for a lot of good reasons and it’s nice to reflect on some of the really positive things in my life right now. So in no particular order here are ten things that made me happy this week: (more…)

Apps For Mums

Navigating the world of pregnancy and parenthood is not an easy task, but imagine embarking on that journey without any of the modern technology that we have at our fingertips today! These days we can get advice, recommendations and answers to all of our weirdest pregnancy questions from many different places. Those late night Google searches of ‘can I eat grapes while I’m pregnant?’ and ‘will I squash the baby if I tie my shoelaces?’ can lead us to many different sources of advice. From reading advice and personal experiences from my favourite Mummy bloggers to getting medical advice from the NHS wesbite, I’ve tried it all, but the thing that I wanted to talk about today is Apps. Those wonderful little icons on our phones that are so small but that hold a wealth of information and advice for all of us clueless parents. (more…)

So You Want To Start A Blog?

img_5720I wrote my very first blog post in July 2016 after thinking about starting a blog for a good few years. It began solely as a personal project that nobody knew about and it’s only in the last few months that I have started to put more time and effort into it to really make it into something to be proud of and to bring in some income. I’m by no means a big blogger but I thought I would share some of the things that I have learnt along the way to help anyone reading this who might be thinking about starting a blog.

1. Think about why you want to start a blog (more…)
