Despite Darcie only being two years old, I have to admit that the world of newborn still seems a little alien to me. Her newborn days feel like a distant memory and as much as some elements have come flooding back, I’m also having to relearn some things. One of the things I’d forgotten was just how hard it can be to entertain a new baby. When they start to be more awake in the daytime, you have to find ways to keep them stimulated and entertained without also accidentally overstimulating them in the process. As Ernie is more awake now, we’ve been trying out the Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym and it’s been a hit so far.

You may have read about the fantastic day out we had at The Watercress Line at The War on The Line Event back in June. It was such a fun day and so I was thrilled when we were invited back to review a Day Out With Thomas. The Watercress Line is one of the few places in the country where you can still ride on Steam Trains all year round. Once a year they hold a very popular event called a Day Out With Thomas which is totally centred around the ever popular Thomas The Tank Engine. We went along on Thursday and we weren’t disappointed! Darcie didn’t really know about Thomas the Tank Engine prior to the event but by the end of the day she was excitedly yelling for Thomas every time he came into the station. How is it time to write this post already? I’m pretty sure my baby boy was only born yesterday, not a month ago! The last month has flown by, it seems like with every child you have, time speeds up even more. I’ve barely had the time to blog since he’s been born so I feel like I have a lot to update you on. I’ve done my best to break it down into categories but if I’ve missed anything that you’re curious about, feel free to ask. So, what is Ernie like at one month old?

Well. Here we are! It’s been so long since I’ve sat down to write. The last time I sat down to write, just because I felt like it, was when I was still pregnant, I was hot, uncomfortable and more than ready to meet my baby boy. And now he’s here! He’s been here for four weeks, and while I can still remember the birth like it was yesterday (ouch!), it also feels like he has been a part of my life for so much longer.

I think we can all agree that getting a good night’s sleep becomes even more important when you are a parent. Gone are the days of lying in bed until noon on a Saturday or treating yourself to an early evening watching Netflix from the comfort of your blankets and pillows. These days sleep is scarce so I want to make sure that the hours we do get are quality even if they’re not a great quantity! Up until recently, we had been sleeping on the same mattress for around five years, it had suffered four house moves, two pregnancies and one toddler – let’s just say it had seen better days. It wasn’t a great quality mattress to begin with and time had not been kind to it. This is where Leesa came in!
