Autumn & Winter Bucket List

Apologies to anyone who is still mourning the end of summer, but I for one am very happy that Autumn has arrived. I actually always used to be such a summer lover, but since having children I much prefer the cooler months. There is no sun cream to reapply every half an hour, no worrying about dehydration and no hot sticky babies that just want to be cuddled. Well, of course the babies are still around but they are less hot and sticky which is a very good thing! I love the age that Darcie is at now as it means that this Christmas will really be the first one that she can properly understand and enjoy. So I really want to make the most of the build up and all the autumnal, festive activities and outings we can do in the mean time.

So here is my Autumn & Winter Bucket List:

Garden Centres

Garden Centres undeniably come into their own at this time of year. There are a few around us that turn into complete Winter Wonderlands and I can’t wait to take Darcie to look at all the displays of roof lanterns, polar bears and sparkling snowflakes.

Pumpkin Picking

Would I even be a blogger if this wasn’t on my list? Cheesy pumpkin photos aside, Darcie really enjoys going to our local ‘Pick Your Own’ Farm so we will certainly be going along to see what pumpkins they have for us this year. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we last went, when I was so impressed that she could say ‘pumpkin’ and now she is talking in full blown sentences.

Dress Ernie Up As A Pumpkin

Halloween in general really doesn’t interest me very much however I’m definitely not one to turn down an opportunity to dress up my kids. Ernie is the perfect baby to dress up as a pumpkin and I can’t wait to do just that!

Fireworks

Last year our trip to the fireworks on Bonfire Night was a bit of a disaster, there was a lot of waiting around and then Darcie wasn’t a fan of how loud they were. However, I’m determined to try again but I think I’ll look into getting ear defenders for this kids this time.

Walks In The Forest

I just love the New Forest in the autumn. We are so lucky to have it right on our doorstep and it really becomes even more beautiful in the Autumn. Now I am getting more confident with driving, I want to take Darcie on lots of autumnal walks in the forest, with Ernie in his baby carrier of course.

Scavenger Hunts

Pretty much every walk Darcie and I go on turns into her own kind of scavenger hunt, but I love the idea of setting a proper one up for her. I want to make a list of all the things for us to find and then head out with a big basket and see how many she can get. I think she’ll love this!

Baking

We love baking all year around but there is something about the autumn and winter that makes me want to get my bake on even more. Reindeer gingerbread and mince pies are just a couple on my to do list!

See The Coca Cola Truck

We’ve been to see the Coca Cola truck every year with Darcie so far. It’s become one of our little traditions and I can’t wait to go again this year with Ernie too.

These are just some of the things that I want to do this Autumn & Winter. I’d love to know what’s on your wish list!
