Gift Guide 2022 | For the Kids

Well here we are again, Christmas is creeping up on us at an alarming speed, which can only mean one thing here – it’s Gift Guide season!

I’m keeping it simple this year and in this post you will find a selection of things that we either already own and love, or that have been highly requested by my own children this year. I have linked everything within the post, all links are in pink text so should be easy enough to spot.

Of course, all children have different interests and tastes, but I hope that you will find a glimmer of inspiration within this post. So without anymore rambling from me, let’s get into it:

Rainbow High 8-in1 Colour Change Car

The perfect gift for any child who loves playing with dolls. This car is such an exciting toy as it can actually change colour, up to 8 times. They can pick a colour or set it to cycle through all the colours while they play. Rainbow High is a favourite in our house and I just know that this will be a toy that gets played with for a long time.

Rainbow High Doll

Still on the Rainbow High theme, a new Rainbow High Doll would be the best toy to receive alongside the Colour Change Car. There are so many dolls to choose from, and they all come with their own identity and accessories. As the name would suggest, the Rainbow High characters are all so colourful, so whatever your child’s favourite colour there will be one that they love. Alternatively you could go for one of the striking dolls from Shadow High, which are totally gray scale, and would definitely be an exciting and unique addition to any doll collection.

Roller Skates

Learning to roller skate is such a fun part of childhood, I have such fond (wobbly) memories of it myself, that I am so looking forward to sharing the same experience with my own children. It’s such a good way to encourage them to get out of the house more too, and a way of getting exercise in that is definitely too fun to feel like a chore. I think roller skates is such a fun gift to give, especially for a child who is hard to buy for, so if you’re stuck for ideas then maybe this could just be the one! Skates has the most amazing range of roller skates, for affordable prices, so you can start your search for the perfect pair here.

Fairytale Nail Set

This Fairytale Nail set is available at Boots and would make such a lovely stocking filler. The set contains 3 nail colours, a nail file, a nail sticker sheet and 3 rings. The nail stickers are hidden behind a surprise window of the box, which is shaped like a castle, so this would be an exciting gift to open. My children always love anything that has an added element of a surprise! I love that the nail polish is peelable and the set is also in the Boots 3 for 2 offer.

Beautiful Books from Books2Door

I picked up a couple of absolutely lovely book-ish gifts from Books2Door. Firstly this stunning illustrated hardbook treasury of animal poems. It contains an animal poem for every day of the year, including one of my childhood favourites Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright. I love reading books like this with my children, and looking at all of the amazing illustrations. This is one of those books that you keep forever and eventually (hopefully) hand down to your own grandchildren. I also picked up The Complete Collection of Winnie The Pooh which is another truly lovely gift to give at Christmas. I love reading Winnie the Pooh with my children because I remember how much I loved the stories when I was little. This is a set of books that will stand the test of time. If you have never shopped with Books2Door then I would really recommend having a look at the website, they have an amazing selection of books for really great prices and delivery is quick too!

Sink N’ Sand

My children saw an advert for this game on the telly quite a while ago now, and they haven’t stopped talking about it since. If something has made that much of an impression on them then it definitely deserves a spot on their Christmas lists. They love playing with kinetic sand and so I am confident they will enjoy this game, it has really good reviews online too.

Modelling Clay

Play doh has always been a firm favourite in this house, but as they are getting older and their creations are getting more elaborate, the idea of being able to save some of them is becoming more appealing. I know they will love using this modelling clay and I am looking forward to seeing what they make with it, in the knowledge that we will be able to keep their creations for longer. I really like giving them gifts that encourage their creativity. There are lots of different sets on Amazon, I bought this one linked here.

Flower Press

Speaking of creativity, I was lucky enough to find this beautiful flower press in pristine condition in a charity shop recently and it has been a huge hit with the children. Admittedly Winter may not be the best season to develop a flower pressing hobby, but it is a lovely thing to have around for when the an opportunity strikes. I have linked a similar one here. It would make a really nice gift for adults too.

Little Journals for Big Feelings

Now, what kind of small business owner would I be if I didn’t seize this opportunity to shamelessly promote my own products? One that’s not very good at self promotion, which would be totally on the mark to be honest. But anyway, if you have a child who might enjoy a prompted journal to help with their emotional well-being, then this might be just the thing for you. As well as the undated journal pages, they also have a gratitude scavenger hunt, affirmations and a fun ‘about me’ page to fill in. They are available on Amazon and come in five different designs. I’ll link the whole collection here.

I feel like I can’t end this post without reminding anyone who needs to hear it, that your children don’t need a million expensive gifts this Christmas to be happy. Times are tough for a lot of us right now and there are so many ways to make Christmas feel special and magical without going broke in the process. Shopping second hand for gifts is a really good option and of course, the thing that our children want more than anything, at any time of year, is us, our time and our love.

I hope this post has been helpful, what have your children asked for this year?
