From A Nursery to A Toddler Room
As we countdown the months and weeks to baby number two, it’s dawning on me more and more that Darcie will soon be ‘the big girl’ of the family. I want to do lots of things for her around the time of Ernie Bump’s arrival that will make her feel special and hopefully ease the transition from only child to older sibling. One of the things I was keen to do was to update her bedroom so it’s less of a nursery and more of a toddler room. She has clear interests, likes and dislikes now and so I love the thought of her having a bedroom that is ‘her’s’ and full of things that she likes. The transformation is nowhere near complete but these are just some of the things we have added or changed so far.

Pregnancy is hard and being a new Mum is even harder. When Kate, founder of the Pickle & Squidge Mummy To Be Boxes, realised this she decided to create a product to make that transition into Motherhood that little bit smoother. The Mummy To Be Boxes were inspired by Kate’s own transition to Motherhood back in 2013. All those sleepless nights left her with time to think and be inspired to create the Pickle & Squidge brand. The Mummy To Be Boxes contain everything that Kate herself found essential during those first few months of Motherhood (and beyond!), for both mum and baby.
The week before last was a tough one for many reasons. Most of those reasons involved expensive things breaking and needing to be replaced. It was also cold and I was stuck inside for most of the week. This week has been the opposite, it’s been a week of new, unbroken things, getting out the house and the weather finally realising that it might in fact be Spring. So here are ten things that made me happy this week:
Although Father’s Day is a while away yet, gifts for men have been in my thoughts lately as we celebrated Dan’s Birthday last week. I’ve only recently become self employed and so having my ‘own’ money is very much a novelty to me at the moment. I was excited to finally treat Dan to a good present after a good couple of years of not really being able to do so. But the hard question was, as always, what to get? I’m sure men are just so much harder to buy for than women, that’s a huge generalisation I know, but I stand by it. I narrowed my options down to five items which I will list below for anybody else out there struggling to buy for the man in their life.
I’ve always intended to do frequent updates on Darcie as she grows and develops into a little person. But time goes so fast that I never seem to actually get around to just sitting down and writing them. I thought a nice way to do a little update on her at 22 months old would be to write down a few of the things that make her so amazing at this particular point in time. She changes so rapidly that it’s hard to keep up but I hope I’ll stick to writing these lists from time to time.
