A Family Weekend | Fun Fair Rides & Strawberry Picking

As much as I am excited to meet our baby boy very soon, I am also really enjoying these last few weeks as a family of three. Although life will change for the better, there is no denying that it will change and that for a while¬†Ernie’s needs will take priority over fun days out with Darcie. I’m making the most of this time and loving thinking of little things for us to do to spend quality time together before our newest member arrives. This weekend there was a fun fair set up locally to us which we went to on Saturday afternoon and then on Sunday we went strawberry picking at Pickwell Farm. These were both little outings that Darcie absolutely loved and made for a lovely family weekend together. (more…)

Taking Time Out at Carey’s Manor SenSpa

If you surveyed a bunch of mums and asked them what they would like most in the world right now, I can guarantee you that the majority of them would wistfully say a Spa Day and then laugh to themselves because, you know, how often do us mums actually get to treat ourselves to that extent? I’ve been longing for a Spa Day since before my daughter was born, nearly two whole years ago, but I’ve never actually managed to find the time to give myself that break and take a day to relax. When Carey’s Manor offered myself and a friend the chance to review the facilities and have a ‘Mums Day Off’, we of course jumped at the chance! After a lot of back and forth we eventually managed to find a day we could both do, when the children would be looked after and we could head off to the Spa and give ourselves the relaxing day that we both needed!

My Favourite Things About Darcie at 23 Months Old

I can’t quite believe that my little baby girl will be turning two next weekend. What I probably should be doing with this little bit of time is organising her party, ordering decorations and thinking about what cake I’m going to make her. But that would make it all seem a bit too real. So, instead of looking forward, I’m going to stick firmly in the present and write down my favourite things about my favourite little person at 23 months old. I haven’t gone back and checked my list from last month so it’s possible there could be some overlaps but some things are just so sweet they deserve to be mentioned again! (more…)

Practical Ways To Find Confidence in Driving

pexels-photo-210053.jpegI’ve talked at length about my fears of driving and how this can affect my every day life. I so badly wish that driving came naturally to me and that this fear didn’t take over every I get behind the wheel of a car. One of the most important things when gaining confidence as a new driver is to have faith in your car and to be up to date with all of it’s maintenance. We recently bought a new car and knowing that it hasn’t been ragged around by a previous owner certainly gives me peace of mind, but of course it’s important that we now¬† keep the car in great condition too. I’ve put together a list of practical things you can do to make sure your car is in great condition so you have one less thing to worry about when you’re out and about.

Easter at the Farm

I’m sure Easter is becoming a bigger celebration nationwide each year. This year I’ve seen people going all out with Easter Baskets, extravagant egg hunts and even Easter Trees. Easter traditions are becoming as popular as Christmas ones and while I’m definitely not an Easter Scrooge, I also certainly couldn’t be bothered to go all out in the same way that some people have. (That’s no shade on those that do, I just don’t have the energy this year!). We kept Easter quite low key, of course we got Darcie (and ourselves) a few Easter treats and I cooked us a roast dinner for lunch. But the highlight of the day for me was taking Darcie to a little Easter Egg Hunt at our local farm.

From A Nursery to A Toddler Room

pexels-photo-860882As we countdown the months and weeks to baby number two, it’s dawning on me more and more that Darcie will soon be ‘the big girl’ of the family. I want to do lots of things for her around the time of Ernie Bump’s arrival that will make her feel special and hopefully ease the transition from only child to older sibling. One of the things I was keen to do was to update her bedroom so it’s less of a nursery and more of a toddler room. She has clear interests, likes and dislikes now and so I love the thought of her having a bedroom that is ‘her’s’ and full of things that she likes. The transformation is nowhere near complete but these are just some of the things we have added or changed so far.
