I Had The Best Day With You Today

Sometimes it’s the days you least expect to be anything special, that make you thankful for the life you lead. For me, Friday was one of those days. After a week of too many small things going wrong, I had almost written it off entirely. My original plan for the day was to take Darcie to our local farm. However, when I woke up and realised how cold it was I decided not to do the long walk to the farm with Darcie freezing in the pram, but instead to take her for a little walk in some woodland nearby to us. At least if she was walking she wouldn’t get so cold and we could both get some fresh air and relieve some of that cabin fever we were both suffering from after a rainy week indoors. (more…)

If I Owned My Own Home

pexels-photo-545034.jpegAs an avid Instagram and Pinterest user I am constantly looking through images of picture perfect homes. I love following interiors accounts and lusting over beautiful houses and dreamy decor. I’m always dreaming of the day when I have my own house and we can chuck every last penny we have into making it our perfect family home. For now, a girl can only dream! I love looking through wishlists of home furnishings and interiors and so I thought I would share my own. Less of a look into my home and more of a look into my mind and the house I dream of having one day. So, in an ideal world, what would my forever home look like? (more…)

10 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week 20.01.18

It’s been a good week overall. My sickness and nausea has almost totally subsided which has left me with a lot more energy to do fun things with Darcie and also to work on my blog and my business in the evenings. I’m not going to do a long ramble of an introduction today as there’s quite a lot to cover in the post anyway. So here are the ten things that have made me happy this week. (more…)

Ways To Save Money This Year

January is well known for being a difficult month. The excitement of Christmas is over and extravagant spending over the festive season could well have left you feeling more than slightly strapped for cash. I’ve been very open on my blog about the fact that we are always trying to save money. Although Dan works very hard and earns a very good wage, it is still only one wage, for three (soon to be four) people. We try to be as frugal as possible and so I am always on the lookout for new and smart ways for us to save money. We are currently saving up to buy our first house and so every penny really does count. I know I’m not the only one trying to find new ways to save money as all my other money saving posts have done well in the past. So, here is an updated list of ways that you could be saving money this year. (more…)

Family Holidays Wishlist

One of things that Dan and I love to do the most, is to travel. Pre baby days saw us gallivanting off on adventures left, right and centre. Any spare money we had went on saving up for the next trip and we’d spend our evenings and weekends planning where we wanted to travel to next and dreaming of exotic countries and exploring different cultures. I know some people seem to manage travelling with a toddler, you hear stories about women who use their maternity leave to travel the world or families who just uproot to go and live on an island somewhere, away from the stresses of modern life. And while that sounds great, that just hasn’t been a reality we have even wanted to attempt. For a start I could never imagine taking our baby far away from her family and for them not to have the chance to know her properly. I take my hat off to people who make it work but that’s just not the path we have taken.  (more…)

Finishing Touches With Desenio

When we moved into our current home I loved so many things about it; the layout, the garden, the space in the lounge. There was just one problem, the decor! Luckily we have been able to change the decor to suit our own tastes which we have been doing, slowly but surely, since we moved in. The worst room by far was definitely our bedroom. Orange carpet, orange curtains, badly fitted wardrobes, do I really need to say more? The wardrobes were the first to go, which then revealed a ceiling that needed to be plastered and a carpet that definitely needed changing.

One fresh new ceiling, one lovely grey carpet, three glorious white walls and one simple grey wall later and it was finally starting to feel more like our bedroom and less like something the eighties had left behind. (more…)
