Second Pregnancy, First Trimester

Now that the news is out there I feel I have a lot to update you on how this pregnancy has been so far. It was so difficult not to mention how I was feeling in blog posts or to have a quick moan about morning sickness on Twitter, but now that I can let it all out, that is exactly what this post is going to be. It could be a long one so you might want to go grab a cup of tea and get comfy.

Dear Darcie, Little, Tiny, Big Sister

16th October 2017

Dear Darcie,

Today something really special happened. You won’t understand it at all yet but today I told you something amazing, something you definitely don’t hear every day. I told you that you are going to be a big sister. I showed you a blue and white stick that had two lines on it, one very faint but definitely there, and I cried and told you how amazing it is and that Mummy is going to give you a best friend for life. You looked at me as I cried tears of happiness and you laughed and tried to grab the stick and put it in your mouth, that made me laugh and then we were both laughing while I was still crying. Pregnant Again!

Unless you are somebody who solely reads this blog and doesn’t follow me across social media, then you will probably have already seen my pregnancy announcement last week! I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to share this news with the blog as we wanted to make sure we had told all of our friends and family in person, where possible, before we posted the news online. I am now 15 weeks pregnant and due on the 24th June 2018. That date seems so far away but from how quickly time has flown by since having Darcie, I just know that it will come round before we know it.

Can I Have It All?

It always amazes me because often the people asking me have even more on their plate than I feel that I do. But the truth is that it is hard. It’s hard in the same way that it must be hard to be a full time working parent outside of the home, and in the same way that it is hard to be a full time stay at home parent who dedicates all their time to raising their children. No parent has it easy, working or not, and I think it’s about time that we admitted that it’s actually really difficult to have it all. (more…)

Life Lessons From My Toddler

25005547_1883422571687066_7649340400603234304_nDarcie’s speech is coming along nicely these days, every day she learns a new word and with each new development I am honestly amazed by her. She hasn’t quite mastered the art of full sentences yet but if she had I’m pretty sure she would have a few words of advice for us all. But until she manages to get her words in order, here are the life lessons that I think we can all learn from toddlers.

Get outside. Every day. As much as possible.

Play in the mud and splash in the puddles. (more…)

Bath Time!

IMG_0217.jpg

Ever since Darcie was first born, she has been a total water baby. I don’t know if it’s because she was born in the birth pool or if it’s simply because most babies just do love water. But either way, it has always been a great way of calming her down if she is upset or unwell and these days it fills that awkward gap between dinner and bedtime. Bath time usually lasts a good half an hour at least in our house; she plays with her toys, splashes water everywhere, drinks the bath water (gross, I know), plays with the bubbles and always says ‘teeth’ at the end to remind me that we need to brush her teeth.
